The FINANCE™ Editor is a powerful, dynamic field type you can embed in your Smartapp Forms to manage and link Estimates directly from a Smart Item. This guide will walk you through configuring and using the FINANCE™ Editor for Estimates, including both “Create New” and “Select from Existing” options.
Step 1: Add the FINANCE™ Editor to Your App Form
Open your App in AppStudio™ and go to App Designer.
From the Field Types panel, drag and drop the
FINANCE Editor
into your form.
Step 2: Configure the FINANCE™ Editor for Estimates
In the field type under the Details Tab, set:

Type:
Editor
App Grid Display Name/TokenID: Enter a display name (e.g., “Estimate”)
Choose Which Finance Editor to be rendered? → Select
Estimates
Set How would you like this Finance Editor to be added?
Check one or both:
Create New
orSelect from Existing
If using Select from Existing, enable the filter option:
Toggle Do you want to Filter by Status?
Select the desired Estimate statuses (e.g., "Published to Budget")
Step 3: Using the FINANCE™ Editor in the App (Consumption)
Depending on your configuration, you will see different options when filling out a Smart Item form.
Option 1: Create a New Estimate
When the Editor is configured for Create New:

icon or the CREATE ESTIMATE button.A new Estimate is auto-created (e.g.,
Estimate - 001
) and opened in the standard Estimates UI.Add line items using Quick Add or the Grid.
Click Done to save the Estimate.
The left pane will display:
Estimate Name (auto-named)
Last Modified Date
Button to open the Estimate
The right pane shows:
Grand Total of Original Estimate Amount
Total number of Items
Current Estimate Status
Option 2: Select from Existing Estimates
When the Editor is configured for Select from Existing:
Click the Select Estimate dropdown or the OPEN ESTIMATE button.
Choose from filtered list of Estimates by status.
Once selected, the Estimate details will populate on the left and right panes.
Click OPEN ESTIMATE to view full details or update the Estimate.
Save the Smart Item to complete the mapping.
Option 3: Support for Both "Create New" and "Select from Existing"
If both options are configured:
You will see both the
+
icon and Select Estimate dropdown.They can either create a new Estimate or map an existing one.
Saving the Smart Item will finalize the mapping.
Notes & Best Practices
When saved, the Estimate name is automatically updated to include the Smart Item name (e.g.,
Estimate - AR-0276 - 001
).You can delete a mapping using the Delete icon (this removes the link, not the actual Estimate).
Unsaved Smart Items will also discard newly created Estimates.
