The FINANCE™ Editor allows you to easily create or select Vendor Contracts while working inside a Smart Item form. This simplifies contract management by bringing everything into one place—so you can manage contracts without switching between screens.
Step 1: Add the FINANCE™ Editor Field to Your Form
In AppStudio™, open your App and navigate to the App Designer.
From the list of available field types, drag the FINANCE™ Editor into your form layout.
Click the field to open its settings panel.
Step 2: Configure the FINANCE™ Editor for Vendor Contracts
In the Details tab, fill out the following:
Tile Name: FINANCE™ Editor
Type: Editor
Display Name: Example – “Finance: Vendor Contracts”
Under Which Finance Editor to be rendered?, select
Vendor Contracts
.Under How would you like this Finance Editor to be added?, choose one or both:
Create New – Allows users to create a new Vendor Contract.
Select from Existing – Allows users to link to an existing Vendor Contract.
If you enable Select from Existing, check Do you want to Filter by Status? and choose which contract statuses you want to show (e.g., “Draft”, “Active”).
Step 3: Create or Select a Vendor Contract in the Form
Depending on your settings, users will see different options inside the Smart Item form.
If “Create New” is enabled:
Click the CREATE VENDOR CONTRACT button or the + icon.
A new Vendor Contract will be automatically created with a name like “Vendor Contract - 001.”
Fill out the contract details, including vendor name, contract amount, and any change orders.
Click Save Contract once finished.
After saving, the contract details will appear in the form:
Contract Name
Last Modified Date
Original Contract Amount
Change Order Amount (if any)
Remaining Amount
Vendor Name
Current Status
If “Select from Existing” is enabled:
Click the Select Vendor Contract dropdown or the SELECT VENDOR CONTRACT button.
Choose from the list of available Vendor Contracts based on the status filters you configured.

After selection, the form displays the contract details:
Contract Name
Last Modified Date
Original Contract Amount
Change Order Amount
Remaining Amount
Vendor Name
Current Status
Click OPEN VENDOR CONTRACT if you wish to view or update the selected contract.
If Both Options Are Enabled:
You will see both the + icon and the Select Vendor Contract dropdown. You can either create a new contract or select one from the list. Only one contract can be linked at a time.
Step 4: Save the Smart Item
Click Save on the Smart Item form to confirm the contract mapping.
If you created a new contract, its name will automatically update to include the Smart Item name (e.g., “Vendor Contract – AR-0276 – 001”).
To remove a linked contract, click the Delete icon. This only removes the link—it will not delete the contract itself.
Notes
You can only link one Vendor Contract per Smart Item.
Contract links remain even if the contract’s status changes later.
If you don’t save the Smart Item, any new contract you create will not be retained.
